Pen Holding Bookmark, or Just a Pen Holder

This is a combination Pen Holder and Bookmark made with the Papertrey Ink Bookmark die cut four times. In order to make it long enough to hold a regular pen,. I cut off the tops of all of them, and the bottom of two of them, and stitched them all together.

I sewed two layers of Blanket Stitch Buttons to the undersaide of the top of the book mark. The braid is made with two tones of blue pearl cotton #3. The 6 strands brought up separately through the stitching and braided.

The braid goes between the 2 layers of felt.

The top button is made out of three layers of felt cut with the largest Blanket Stitch Button die. The polar bear is made with Warmest Wishes die cut and stamped Shrinky Dink (punch the button holes before shrinking).

The braid goes down around the book then up through the tab on the bottom. It's only sewn on the bookmark on the sides. The stitching across the top and bottom are just for reinforcement.

 The long braid allows it to be used on a wide variety of  book and notebok sizes.

Krafty Bookmark

A krafty bookmark for Simon Says Witch Kraft and Simon Says Anything Goes. I cut a bookmark out of Papertrey Ink cardstock using the bookmark die. I ran it through the BigKick with the Regency Rose cross-stitch die from the Regency Era mini kit.

Then I stitched it in places with some handspun wool embroidery thread. I used some thicker handspun for the top fringe.

Simply Jane Bookmark

A bookmark or embellishment (inspired by this bookmark by Betsy Veldman), using the Papertrey Ink set Simply Jane.  The front is stamped with Wendy Vecchi Orange Blossom and Cornflower Blue Archival Inks by Ranger.

In order to make the cut into a bookmark, I glued some pieces of an old receipt across the top. Then I glued two more die cuts to the top of each piece (without the receipt pieces). With Papertrey Ink cardstock, I will only use two cuts instead of three next time.

I stamped the bouquet on the back with Versamark just to make it more versatile. Since Simon Says it's an Anything Goes challenge, I decided to join in with this.

Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-Faire 2013: Bake & Take

For my Bake & Take I used the Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Rain, New Leaf and Limeade Ice color palette with the tag and pocket sketch.

8/25/13 update:

After I posted the first card, I realized the due date was August 26th @ noon EST, so I deconstructed the card, stamped the patterns on the background of the card base and on the bookmark with Color Box Fresh Green Pigment Ink. The sentiment and images come from Papertrey Ink Funky Florals. The sentiment and border are embossed with Zing Cricket Embossing Powder on Hawaiian Shores. The cardbase is Spring Rain, the bookmark is Enchanted Evening cut with the PTI bookmark die and green embroidery thread is used at the top.

WOYWW - 118

Before I show you what's on my workdesk, I want to brag about my oldest younger sister (there are 4 of us!). She is amazing, smart, funny, compassionate AND she makes stunning things with paper (and she quilts like a dream too). But after months of people saying she should start a blog, she finally did!! Paper, Craft, and Scissors. Needless to say, I'm tickled pink to be her big sister :D.

I was too tired last night to put away my Paper Layerz embellishments left over from my earlier post. I use this box that once held spools of thread to hold embellishments while I get to the project or figure out what I'm going to do with them lol. These don't go bad, some of them go back to September 2009. And sometimes when I'm stumped for an idea, I just start pulling them out and I find I'm usually not stumped for long :D.

After I got them all in the box, I saw that I'd forgotten to put away the bookmark blanks I'd cut from some Papertrey Ink Kraft cardstock scraps, using the Papertrey Ink bookmark die. And inspiration struck. So I made a bookmark for myself :D.  The background stamps are from PTI Background Basics: Woodgrain stamp set (Tea Dye Distress Ink). The "Let me Save Your Spot" sentiment is from PTI All Booked Up stamp set (Memento Black Tuxedo Ink). The cord is some cotton twine from the hardware store with two of the small Owl die cuts from the August Club Ruby Designers kit glued back to back. And the bead is one that I made (did I mention I'm a craftoholic?!?) in the one lampworking glass I've been able to take. Then I untwisted the ends to make a faux tassel.
