WOYWW 199

Part of a card front in the making, still tinkering. I have a vision, but reality is not matching that at the moment lol. Actually that happens with regularity but usually I can make something out of it. This week the spindle I was experimenting on went so far off the track I actually threw it away.

The painter's tape is corralling some seed beads. And I broke down and bought something, Dylusions Sprays (sunshine and a red color). With a coupon (love coupons) at Joann's. So happy about that. Really it's the little things lol. And about the clockworks I left at the store last week, I should have mentioned, that had they been on sale, I probably would have picked up a couple of more. I am not made of stone : D.

Today I received the gift of unexpected cupcakes (it's my birthday week) : D. And not just any cupcakes, Georgetown Cupcakes (aka DC cupcakes).

WOYWW 198

My handy notebook is front and center today, doodles were done instead of the list of ideas I wanted to capture. Squirrel!
I went to Hobby Lobby today and came across a Thermometer kit! I'm thinking it could be a lot of fun. Although my super power seems to be the ability to determine the ambient air temperature (Fahrenheit only), so I left it at the store for now anyway. I still have a stock of clockworks, so I left those there too lol.

Here is the clear card for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #107 card (details on Sunday's post). I learned it's difficult to photograph something clear lol. And it helps if the lighting can give you shadows to help define it.

Make It Monday #107: Clear Card & Copic Coloring Basics

I've been wanting to make a clear card for a while, so Papertrey Ink's Clear Card & Copic Coloring Make It Monday was great timing. I made an A2 clear card base. Stamped the front with the Friendship Jar, with the label die and a little labels hello friend greeting. The butterflies are from We R Memory Keepers and Martha Stewart and colored on the back with Memento Marker Bahama Blue.

Happy Spring is stamped behind the label so it shows up when the card is opened on a folded Melonberry patterned paper (which unfolds to allow a message to be written, but kept out of view until this is opened). And on the back a scrap of K&Co. paper is adhered so give another mat and keep the adhesive out of view.

WOYWW 197 - Clearly Something Is Going On

I'm attempting a Papertrey Ink Make It Monday entry (this week's challenge is to make a card with a clear base). Only static electricity is distracting me. Oh yes, I DO have four cats (and a dog, a guinea pig and a hamster named Venus). It didn't help that I started the card in my freshly washed fleece bathrobe. So I will start again after drinking a lot of water and wearing cotton (but sometimes even cotton turns into shrink wrap).

I'm still out of sorts about Daylight Savings Time. I hate it. I want to glide gently into spring, each day lengthening a bit at both ends instead of being jerked back into darkness in the morning. To see the sun's zenith coincide with Noon instead of One O'clock. (Going with an Op/Ed instead of a PSA this week lol).

WOYWW 196 and Gertrude's Devil Bowl

Front and center, an actual VHS tape (Handspinning Advanced Techniques by Mabel Ross). Two out of three DVD players bit the dust, fortunately I have a stash of crafty VHS to watch. Just behind it are my two Papertrey Ink ink pads (Ocean Tides and Kraft). They are sort of yin or yang shaped, so the larger side can be used for inking large areas and the pointy bit for getting in the small places. On the other side is part of my freshwater pearls stash. Seriously, I'm addicted to them. The zip bags in the front contain some of my larger PTI dies. I've decided if I keep them there, I'm more motivated to find a better storage solution for them. On the other hand, when they are out, I use them more.

I'm sometimes accused of hoarding because I save odd junk mail and all my PTI packaging, but it's really a useful craft source. And if you don't believe me, you can see it for yourself in this blog post about 25 Creative and Frugal Supplies for Mixed Media from Cloth, Paper, Scissors lol. They didn't specifically include one of my favorites though, which is those subscription cards in magazines which look so different when they are cut.

This card was made a while ago with second-hand materials and a sharpie.

And a PSA for anyone whose dog is a food gulper. Instead of the fancy $30 dollar specialty bowls designed to slow their eating, I found a $2.79 double bowl turned upside down works really well. This one has a ridge in the middle to really put the brakes on by rocking and turning as she eats. My dog thinks this is the devil's doing, but she is no longer in danger of getting bloat from eating too quickly.
