 The desk was cleared and then messed up again : D. I am working on some wayyyyy over due baby booties for a kid who is now running lol. I figure the mother will either use them for decoration, save them for another child or give them away. When I unearthed my desk I found all the pieces, so I figured I might as well finish them. I finally got a Heidi Swapp Memorydex punch (huzzah) so much easier than the notch die I bought, though it was only $2 and the punch was a bit more. Just out of view is my computer. I went to a virtual crop over the weekend and did my first zooms lol. Another square check off on my 2020 Bingo card : D. Since I only have an OTT lite in a dark room I looked a bit like a luminescent ghost.

 

I even made Banana bread between Zooms lol. I feel very accomplishted :D

I also started the new WestKnits Mystery Shawl Knitalong. My notes thus far : D.

Doing a little organization and uncovered a few things that need to be finished (baby booties, star box and, a fighting anxiety reminder notebook) and a couple of finished things that need a place to be.

The Dionysus filet crochet is finally finished! (I finished the crochet part in 1979, and it took me until this year to get the ends woven in and blocked).

Someone was asking about my Grumpy notebook, just has pictures of Grumpy in it : D. But Grumpy makes me very very happy : D.

 

 I covered some banker's boxes to hold music. The individual boxes are really prone to falling over. They are really difficult to cover though. So I put adhesive paper on the boxes so everything could stick to that. Also I put a band of painters tape around the lower part to keep both boxes tied together while I added everything else and just covered it up.

 The state of my desk this morning. A Grumpy Journal in the foreground, and proof that I succombed once again to the siren song of a new Tim Holtz color. This time it's Crackling Campfire (swoon emoji). 

The big news is that I finally finished this filet crochet of Dionysus with all the ends woven in and blocked. I finished the crochet part in 1979, and learned how to do it from a book (Reader's Digest Guide to Needlework long before the internet was a household thing), but didn't really get the whole end weaving and blocking thing. I managed not to lose it through 12 or so moves. It was crocheted out of actual thread because I had real vision back then. So the finished piece is new and vintage at the same time lol.

I succumbed to the siren song of Speckled Egg, and couldn't find ink pads anywhere, so ordered the whole thing. So now I have two Speckled Egg Distress Glaze, but I'm not worried about that. A few weeks ago I discovered the Distress Markers had gone away. And when I got this I think the Distress Stains with a dauber have gone away as well.

But today most of the crafty related action is outside. I had a pile of yarn that was dusty, so I have been giving the skeins a bath and then dry them outside. Also washed the last of my shawls. The towel is drying because I used it to get water out of the shawl lol. And to the right is my solar cooker. Only the last two times it has failed me. I think the reflective surface needs a good buffing.

Drying hack, use the silver side of the tarp and knit wear (or crochet wear) dries in a jiffy.

This is what it looks like when I am winding a skein and I go in the wrong direction and have to unwind everything lol. The knitty noddy is the stick like thing on top of my tea cup pot (which needs a plant in it). The bag in the chair is a gorgeous brown fleece that needs washing. And just through the chair you can see Archie Cat.

Archie has been enjoying the days on the porch. He is a 15 year old toothless mouser, who has bigger dreams now of squirrels and chipmunks lol. Since fall is approaching, they are busy gathering the acorns in front of the house and run along the porch just on the other side of the screen. Archie is not a fan of screens. I have been looking for my Altenew Watercolors for a few months. And Monday I found them. Right where I had been looking : I. It has done a lot to restore my crafty mojo if for no other reason, I don't keep looping I'd think I'll use my new paints! I can't find them. Hunt for paints. Leave craftroom.

I also finished my Radiate Shawl (designed by WestKnits). Because as I have gotten older, I now believe it's not finished until it's wet washed and blocked. I block on a flat surface for the record, this is just the glamour shot : D.

I actually broke down and bought something papercrafty, including a jar of Tim Holtz' Speckled Egg Distress Glaze. I was quite sad to find out that Ranger has discontinued Distress Markers about a year ago. Living under a rock has it's drawbacks. But the new colors will be added to Distress Crayons so there's that. For the record, I was ready to post much earlier in the day, but the computer insisted upon being rebooted which apparently takes an age.

The stamp and die set is from Simon Says and is called "We're Like Toilet Paper" : D. And there is an interactive toilet die, and as I am really 12 and I love interactive things I bought that too.

And now for something completely different. I came up with a taco hack for those times I want to have a slightly crunchy taco shell. I heat the tortilla on both sides and add cheese to the top. Also it keeps the shredded cheese from falling out.

I joined in a new thing, #positivitypassportchallenge over on Instagram for the month of July. I am positively certain I hate paperwork, and it causes me great anxiety. Before covid I was able to find people trained to do this. This year it took me over 4 hours, and my body feels like I have been through a wringer. Just one of the joys of panic/anxiety.

Today's entry. Under the pen, it says "Put on pants" (the American sort of pants for the record : D).
