Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Snap lol

Monday I turned on my computer and went to get my coffee. When I came back in the room, there was an acrid aroma of electrical issues in the air. My fears were confirmed when I saw tendrils of smoke coming out of the back of the computer. With luck it will be examined by my computer whiz nephew the weekend after next. Ironically I was just getting ready to back up the computer. Keep your fingers crossed that the harddrives are ok.

I'm typing on the tv computer (in lieu of cable, we watch online). It works great for watching tv, not really comfortable for typing. On the plus side, I don't need my glasses to read the screen thanks to my keyboard/mouse combination that works at least 50 feet away from the computer lol.

I found one by Acer that already had a HDMI output and the Windows with Media Center (with TV). I fond a digital TV tuner and a keyboard with a range of 50' with the mouse built into the keyboard (I found everything on Amazon). The computer can record tv program over the air (the tuner came with an antenna), so it's sort of like having a DVR. We can also watch online shows. I think it paid for itself in savings of cable bills in about 8 months.

We also have netflix so we watch the instant shows and that runs us $18.00/month plus the 3 at a time DVDs. I have a weakness for a lot of cable shows, and I found that especially when I was paying a lot for cable, I watched a lot of tv and didn't get much done lol.

The keyboard is not very wonderful for long term typing because it sits on my lap instead of a desktop. But it works well for typing in urls to watch tv shows (gotta lovvvvve hulu).

Oh I am so sorry about the computer. I sure hope everything in its 'brain' is save and ready for a transfer.

you did make me laugh about the 'no nee for glasses' :) I can totally relate.

We are planning on going 'Dish-less' next summer when the contract ends. Netflix seems to be all we watch anyhow. I am like you, most of the shows I like are on the Premium channels (which we don't get) so I watch on NetFlix after they come to streaming. :) Our TV has the wireless instant watch for NetFlix, Blockbuster and 'coming soon' Hulu really excited about that.

My fingers are crossed for a safe recovery of your computer. Happy Friday

Oh, I would cry. I guess I will back up my computer pronto! Hopefully it was just the power supply and didn't harm your data!

I love the "no need for glasses" comment. Oh how I wish I didn't need mine!

Hey, my friend! Thanks for your visit and your comment, but I'm missing your wonderful projects -- are you still having a computer problem?

If so, hope you get it taken care of soon! I miss seeing you posting!
