Day 7 from the creativebug book art class. The two sides are also stitched together with pierced holes and handspun chain-plied cinnamon tussah silk embroidery thread. Ends left for an interactive elements since the dur-a-lar prevents the perforated paper from being touched.

There are a few drops of gold paint for a little extra shine : D.

I started with a little piece of perforated paper that has been on my desk for a couple of years. I started painting it with paint I had left on my desk when I was coloring background papers. This was the front.

Until I turned it over. Now this is the front.

I stitched the perforated paper some Pearl Cotton and DMC Gold Metallic floss. I liked both sides so I decided to make two pages that worked together so both sides could be seen. The windows were cut with the square from Papertrey Ink's Limitless Layers: 2 1/4 Square die.

The back can be seen on the next page. I used the square cut from the paper to fill in the hole on this page. The piece is seen against the same background no matter which side is looked at.

I love being able to see the shadows cast too.

I'm still working my way through the creativebug book art class. This page works with the page behind it by way of an embellished bit of perforated paper suspending between two sheets of duralar. Stitching and paint. I'm working on a post with all the details. I used a bit of gold paint in the page coloring. I love a touch of sparkle : D.

I'm taking a Book Art class on creatvebug. I had so much fun working on this. Plus stitching on paper and photographs is one of my favorite things. I used printer paper colored with Distress Paint (Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass and Antiqued Bronze).

Then I wrote the text with a marker, and poked holes along the letters for the stitches. The paint might have kept tearing at bay. It doesn't show in the photograph, but I used a lovely variegated embroidery thread from DMC.

 I attached the photo with a little ATG in the middle and then stitched around the outer edge with some handspun merino tencel 2-ply embroidery thread.

The grass and bow are colored with Distress Markers. The dress and teddy bear were painted with Distress Oxide, but it really only whited them out because I used a water brush to apply them. The dress was colored again with Distress Markers and a little Squeezed Lemonade Distress Paint. I poked holes around the teddy bear and stiched over it with some two tone handspun embroidery thread.

Abstract Time Line

I'm taking a book art class online. Perhaps burnishing the heck out of the pages will keep the papers adhered. I have not had a lot of luck with gluesticks. I used Distress Paint (Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass and Antiqued Bronze) on typing (okay I'm old, the package says printer paper). A 10 year old Gold Uniball gel pen.

I'm also doing the Daily Marker 30 day Challenge.

Transferring some stamp sets from CD cases to dur-a-lar sheets in Avery Elle envelopes. I am procrastinating a few birthday cards I need to make.

I did make this one last night though. Tim Holtz' Hipster stamp set : D. A card for anyone who likes sheep!

Stamp-a-Faire 2017: Wool with Debbie Olson

The challenge is to make wool cookies. I used some scraps of Papertrey Ink Fine Linen as the Sugar Cookie base. I stitched sprinkles and faces and then attached jump rings to the back.

 The pattern was made by cutting out a cookie from the Friendship Jar: Holiday cookie stamp.

Then cutting out the icing.

Papertrey Ink Vellum Birthday Card

I love making clear and translucent cards. Papertrey Ink's Vellum is easily sturdy enough to make a card with. In this case I used the large Jellyfish and go with the flow sentiment from Altenew's Painted Jellyfish stamp set. The happy birthday sentiment is from Club Scrap's Gimme A Ring kit. The largest jelly fish layer is stamped with Papertrey Ink's Fresh Snow. I heat set it and waited a while to move on to the next layers which included Sap Green Archival Ink and Wendy Vecchi's Cornflower Blue.

The mat effect is from a piece of  folded patterned paper (enhanced with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide).

The folded patterned paper lifts up to reveal the birthday sentiment : D.
