The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge: Dimension
The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge is Dimension and the Guest Designer is Wendy Vecchi.
I blended a little Antique Linen Distress Ink through Wendy Vecchi's Polka Dotty stencil. Then stamped the lace from her Say It With Art stamp set in Frayed Burlap and the flourish and sentiment in Orange Blossom Archival Ink. I used her Embossing Paste through the 3 Flourish stencil. Poe (from the Metro Art stamp set) is stamped with Cornflower Blue Archival Ink, fussy cut and attached with foam tape.
And because Simon Says Anything Goes, I entered it there as well : ).

Did you hear the Buzz?
I'm in love with Dina Wakley's bee from her Scribbled Insects stamp set. It's colored with Black Soot, Pumice Stone and Mustard Seed Distress Inks. The tag is die cut from Tim Holtz Sizzix Tag & Bookplates die and colored with Abandoned Coral and Ripe Persimmon Distress Paints. Then embossing paste was applied through the Tim Holtz Blossom Layering Stencil.
The bee was fussy cut and then vellum wings were glued over the cardstock wings with Ranger Multi Matte Medium (seriously loving this). The card base is Papertrey Ink's Enchanted Evening.
Simon Says Don't Abandon the Coral : ).

Homey Greetings
Simon Says Anything Goes so I'm adding a card utilizing a faux fresco technique from Papertrey Ink's Stamp-a-faire 2014. There is also a Crafty Secrets Linky party.
There had been a run on White Embossing Paste before Stamp-a-faire, so I bought some Wendy Vecchi Translucent Embossing Paste (you can see the application texture in this picture) I applied it to a mat of Papertrey Ink Fine Linen cardstock and when it had dried, stamped this image from Crafty Secrets Home Sweet Home with Jet Black Stazon. It's colored with Memento Dual Markers and Wild Honey Distress Marker.
The sentiment is also from Crafty Secrets Home Sweet Home. The cardbase is Papertrey Ink Tropical Teal, the corners rounded with Corner Chompers. The velvet ribbon (Decorative Trim Jade) is adhered with 0.25 Score Tape.

Papertrey Ink's Stamp-a-faire 2014: Explore Ancient Rome Faux Fresco
Explore Ancient Rome. This is my take on the Faux Fresco technique. I used Crackle Embossing Paste (everywhere I looked seemed to be out of white embossing paste). But I really like the extra texture, though I think it might stick to the stamp a little more than regular white embossing paste. All the stamps come from the Ancient Rome mini kit. I used painters tape on the sentiment and stamped it in two parts then drew and fussy cut the thought bubbles. The cardstock used is Fine Linen for the mat, Enchanted Evening and the cardbase is Canyon Clay. The inks are Ocean Tides for the mosaic, Spring Rain for the laurel behind the urn and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Backgrounds with Embossing Paste
Make It Monday #176: Backgrounds with Embossing Paste. I mistakenly ordered the Crackled Embossing Paste instead of the smooth, but that means it fits for Simon Says Scratched Up. In the video, Laura said the embossing paste can be colored by smooshing the inkpad on the mat as an alternative to adding a drop of re-inker. It was not quite as dark as I think re-inker would be, but it is nice to have a break from all the brown re-inkers I have lol. I used Ocean Tides, Hawaiian Shores and Simply Chartreuse to color the embossing paste.
She also demonstrated stacking multiple die cuts to add solid dimension, and that worked well too.But it is good to use a glue with a little "slip" to it. The die and stamps are from Make It Market Co.: Shakers and Sprinkles and stamped with Ocean Tides and Golden Harvest. The stencil "Power Lines" is from the book Stencil Me In by Marthe Le Van.
