Gift Box and Gift (updated with more pictures)

All the paper used in this project is from the For the Record Collection by Echo Park, except for the cupcake/ornament holder which is cut from a piece of scrap cardstock.

The ornament is decorated with leftover cuts from the box. I shortened the sides of the cupcake holder so the ornament sat lower in the box.

Cricut Cuts:
  • Gift Box Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge (lower section made from  Lace Stripes, and the lid from Table Cloth).
  • "Ribbon" around the lid made from Martha Stewart Elegant Cake cartridge borders welded together (Newsprint).
  • Button Stars from Gypsy Wanderings (twine from Papertrey Ink)
  • Flower Handle, made from George &amp Basic Shapes, three flowers cut and glued together to make a handle.

A Card for Fall and a Thank You card

I made this card for a contest, which was timely as I had been wanting to try this all summer lol.  The treetop is made from a fancy cut on Straight from the Nest and it's shadow. The paper is Creative Memories, but I don't remember which set.  The card base is made with Core'dinations cut 5.5" x 8.5"  and folded in half. The tree trunk is from Serenade. and it is sandwiched between the fancy cut and it's shadow.  Please note rhinestones do not expire. I bought these from a now defunct store called Franks back in 1989. I filled all the cuts that have rhinestones in them with glossy accents. I also filled in some of the cuts without rhinestones.

Then I put the finishing touches on a Thank You card I've been working on all week. One of those get an element think about it, let it lie on the card for a while, move it lol.

It started with the flower embellishment which I cut almost 2 years ago when I was just starting out with the  Cricut. I have NO idea which cart it came from or anything.  Then I went to my scrap box and pulled out a thin strip of shiny K&Co paper and my favorite pink, preglittered paper, and a piece of cardstock from Club Scrap's Framed  kit (this is the plain side).  I cut the shiny paper strip in two and used both sides, and strung it through the flower.

The flower looked too plain, so I stamped it with a Papertrey Ink stamp from the Embellishments stamp set, and then covered the ink using a clear glittered copic marker (also purchased from Papertrey Ink). I used my Splash BazzInk cube to tie elements together by inking the edges of the grey mat and to stamp flourishes on the card base.

You can just see the background stamping there. Then I made liberal use of my Antique Linen Distress Stickles and a sentiment made from the Paper Tray Ink stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

Thanks for looking :D

Added: The flower is from George and Basic Shapes, in the slotted feature :D

Gypsy File Sharing Update and a Note for Design Studio Users

It came to my attention that some files I thought I had previously shared, were in fact, not shared. I think I have it all straightened out now.

Just for the record, to cut these files as is, you'll need to have a Gypsy and the Provo Craft Cricut cartridges that were used in each file. If you have the full version of Cricut Design Studio (also known in the Cricut World as DS), you can convert all gypsy files into .cut files. As long as you have the carts, you can make the cuts unless the Gypsy carts were used. But if Gypsy files were used, you should be able to swap out similar designs. These files are free for personal use.

The Gravity Set file as it looks on the Gypsy. The carts used are Indie Art, Doodletype and George and Basic Shapes. The lettering on the larger image is reversed because I used it to cut a vinyl stencil for etching the bottom of a glass plate. See Christmas present for a Teenager for the original post.

Christmas Present for a Teenager

It is difficult for me to find presents for teenagers that don't involve technology or require a bit more money than I want to spend. So I was tickled pink when I thought of a present for one teen that I could make with things I could buy at the dollar store. One of my best friend's son developed an expression (which I appropriated for my own use as an exclamation to the heavens when things fall). When I saw the skull in the splatter in the Indie Arts cartridge, I actually knew what I was going to make for my friend's son before I knew what I was going to make for her.

The picture above is a detail from the bottom of the plate (the skull is from Indie Art, the font is Doodletype and the Circles are from George and Basic Shapes). The glass below was an extra gift I made as an "easter egg" at the bottom of a glass. I used vinyl for the stencil and flipped the words since the glass is etched on the bottom of the plate.

To download the gravity set.gypsy file go here.

You'll need a Cricut and a Gypsy to use this file. To cut the file as is, you'll need Indie Art, Doodletype and George and Basic Shapes. If you don't have these cartridges, you can use it as a template to make your own files though.
