I've been working on this page a while
(2015), but I THINK it's done. The journaling is finished! I love
altering photographs, but never the originals. I scan the originals and
then print out a new one. I also love twisting the expectation
with a contrasting first glance and the actual subject matter.
I
added a die cut indicating the journaling is pulled out using a little
arrow from Papertrey Ink's Movers & Shakers Sentiments set. I die
cut a scrap of glossy paper and stamped the background with Papertrey
Ink's Monthly Moments: Tabbed set.
I might add a couple more F Bombs from Kelly Purkey's F Bomb set.
Paper: Anna Griffin, 12x12 vellum, Papertrey Ink Sweet Blush cardstock, Vintage Glassine (for postage stamp collecting).
Stamps:
Papertrey Ink Honey Bees, Monthly Moments: Tabbed, Movers & Shakers
Sentiments, Simple Alphabets; Kelly Purkey F Bomb
Cricut:
Cricut Explore doesn't show which images were used. No idea about the
Vellum, letters, speech bubble, and the beetle. The toads are from
Spells & Potions.
Miscellaneous: Stickles, Handsput
Silk Embroidery Thread (used to stitch translucent pieces in place),
Deckle edged scissors (for Journal Pocket), White Opaque Embossing
Powder, Glossy Accents
There is something so satisfying about making embellishments : D. This little toad is one of my all time favorites.

Here Comes Trouble
I read a post over at the Paperclipping Forum about writing dates on a layout, especially when there is a long time lag, so I put that information on the back of my journal card.
The photograph is pretty bad, but I love elements about it, and I don't have a lot of photographs taken at our home from this time period. I wrote on the Journal card about how I had to buy film (and make sure it wasn't expired when I loaded it into the camera), then take the pictures, safely unload the film and keep track of it until I could get it developed. So I added the Happy rub-on to emphasis there is a happy child there (at the age of three Halloween is all sorted out). It's not a Halloween layout, it's an up to a bit of mischief layout using a Halloween photograph because, so I wrote the aspects I wanted to highlight in the layout directly on the photograph.
So it's not the most artistic layout I've ever done, but I have to say it is one of my favorites for all the reasons mentioned above.

Cantankerous When I Want to Be Layout, part two.
I thought I had finished this layout before, but apparently not lol. Quick synopsis before the additional embellishments. A scanned picture of myself as a baby. I can not remember a time that I didn't hate tight clothing. The base is Anna Griffin paper with a die cut vellum overlay hand stitched with handspun embroidery thread. Cantankerous and #$@& is glassine paper from my father's stamp collecting supply die cut with Cricut Explore. The glasssine letters and vellum mat are wrinkled with the pink Stickles used to adhere the glassine letters.
I added the speech bubble, toads, bug rosette and journal pocket (under the larger toad). I used Tombow Multi-Glue on the back of the new embellishments (waiting till it had dried but remained sticky) to give just a little dimension.
The pocket is Papertrey Ink Sweet Blush. The edges are cut with a pair of decorative edge scissors to pick up the deckled edge of the original photograph. The pocket is stamped with white pigment ink with Papertrey Ink's Honey Bees stamp set. The toad is from Cricut (the Explore software doesn't have a way to show where an image came from after it's been put in a project). The top layer is heat embossed with white opaque embossing powder and the eye is Glossy Accents.
The top layer of the smaller toad is also heat embossed with opaque white embossing powder. I've always loved watching toads. My hands have memorized them : ).
The speech bubble is another Cricut diecut. The Arrrrgyles is stamped with Papertrey Ink's Simple Alphabet and Soft Stone ink. I've lost the "L" so I colored an "E" with the L part of the stamp. The discoloration of the photo is in the original, so I let it be. Arrrgyles is the punch line to one of my favorite riddles (what sort of socks do pirates wear?). The edges are distressed with the edge of a scissor.
The rosette is also cut from glassine from my father's stash. It works completely differently than paper or cardstock lol. The beetle is another Cricut cut. The head and abdomen are popped up a little with Tombow Multi-Glue and then the legs and antennae are glued flat. The top layer is covered with Glossy Accents.
Simon Says A is for... I say Amphibians and Arrrgyles : )

Glitter Hello card
Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #28 the challenge was to use a thick glue pen around a die, only I don't have a thick glue pen, so I used a copic marker (cool gray) and colored over it with a Martha Stewart glue pen and used Pallette Ultrafine Prism glitter.
cardstock: pink mat from stash, PTI soft stone (mat) and sweet blush (A2 card), vintage cream (mat shape #3).
marker: C5 (cool gray) Copic, chisel edge around the shaped mat, side of brush to edge the rectangular mats.
inks: Spun Sugar and Pumice Stone Distress Inks
stamps: Papertrey Ink Honey Bees and Mat Stack 3 Collection.

WOYWW 112!
Happy WOYWW :D. I've been playing with my Papertrey Ink stamps. This is the Honey Bees stamp which I used to make the card from the previous post and this one (which my daughter sent off to a friend). The wellies are from the Daily Designs stamp set. I'm so in love with versamark for stamping btw lol.
I'm happy to say the weather has cooled off significantly from last week! Nothing like 100 degree weather to make 89 seem balmy :D, actually it was 108 with the heat index last week, bah.
Now for you Tim Holtz fans (It's been ages since I put a Tim Holtz label on a post), one of my favorite CHA reporting blogs, Scrap Time has posted a series of Tim Holtz videos, so I'll enable anyone interested by providing a link for videos 1 and 2 and this link for 3, 4, 5, and 6. Watch at your own fiscal peril however lol.
If you are wondering about what's all this WOYWW, then head over to our fearless leader's site, The Stamping Ground and have a gander, better yet, take a picture and join in :D.

Stamp-a-faire Challenge #10
Papertrey Ink had a Stamp-a-faire event over the weekend, only with one thing and another I wasn't able to participate with the online challenges, but since challenge #10 didn't post when it was supposed to, now I can :D. The challenge was to create depth by only using one layer, stamping a background and then focal points on top of it.
I used Papertrey Ink's Honey Bees and Background Basics: Retro, with Marvy Heritage Old Gold, Antique Linen Distress Ink and Memento Black Tuxedo inks, Papertrey Ink's Stamper's Select White and Harvest Gold cardstocks.
