Papertrey Ink Year of Flowers: Lily of the Valley Cards.

I love doing variations. Four cards with the same Year in Flowers: Lily of the Valley stamp. Three are stamped on Papertrey Ink vellum using Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink (boy that makes a difference in clear stamping on vellum!). All the cards are made with PTI Ocean Tides cardstock.

Papertrey Ink Inspired Mini Banner

It's Papertrey Ink's 6th Anniversary and they are having lots of contests. This is my first entry in the Inspiration Contest (pick a card from one of the Designers' favorite projects in the post and interpret it using at least one Papertrey Ink product).

My inspiration is a ribbon card by Ashley Cannon Newell. The elements I used were the ribbon, especially the way it's rounded at the top, the use of two die cuts in the focal point, and the sewing. The tutorial for making the  mini-banner holder is at the link. I decided to limit myself to things that were already on my craft table. If you've seen any of my WOYWW posts, the only surprise is that the project is so small lol.

The roses from the Rosie Posie stamp set are souvenirs from my PTI Stamp-a-faire trip to my sister's house. I stamped the pattern on the banner with the Love Potion chemical liquid stamp (using Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on PTI craft cardstock). I used the folded ribbon top in the card to string the banner. The sewing is with some wool/mohair handspun embroidery thread used to attach the Eiffel Tower confetti piece.

I didn't have a long piece of twine on my desktop, so I tied to Papertrey Ink rustic twine to a piece of cotton twine. But it looked odd when I tied a loop at the end, so I improvised a hoop with wire and then attached a freshwater pearl to one end.

WOYWW - 189

Happy WOYWW! My spindle toolbox is on my workdesk, so I took a picture of my new goodies instead. It's been over a year since I ordered from Papertrey Ink so it took me a week to figure out exactly what to get lol. Shown are the Jane Austen stamps and the Ocean Tides ink pad. I can hardly wait to get them inky, but sadly previous obligations get in the way. In addition to awesome products, my tissue paper supply is re-stocked since they wrap each stamp set in its on sheet. Christmas and birthday money well spent : D.

I haven't been crafting a lot, but I've been percolating ideas like mad. And I've been pinning for Scotland. Today I realized I have over 9500 items on Pinterest lol. So many shiny ideas, but since I'm a visual person, it's so much easier to find the inspirations I found six months ago.

This holiday season found me to be a "miniscule giver of cares", and I gave myself permission not to sweat about it much (but couldn't quite muster the permission to make non-gift crafts I was hankering to do). I'm backish : D.

WOYWW 182 - Still out to sea.

The bit of purple fun foam is a very low tech means of marking the middle of a whorl at regularish intervals. I made it back in 1998 and it still works well, though it is a bit grimy. The file is to open the holes in the wooden wheels so they can be spindle whorls. I think the bobby pins were left by my daughter when she was foraging for supplies. Or the bobby pin fairy has been at work. The whorls will become top-whorl spindles once a bit of dowel is added.

I'm not sure if it's from the residue of the sea-themed bead swap, but these four separately spun (on spindles) remind me of the sea, so I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with them. Trying to find the fiber I used for each one so I can figure out quantity and project size. Sometimes a serendipitous approach makes a lot of work lol.

WOYWW 181 - Something beady :D

Happy Wednesday everyone :D. I'm getting ready to assemble some spindles (for yarn/thread). The narwhal is a leftover (painted with a puddle of Pumice Stone Distress Ink spritzed with water). The beads still haven't been put away lol. The pink thing is a brad-setter/paper piercer combo tool.

 

This is the beaded charm I made for the swap. Freshwater pearls, an aquamarine bead, dark blue rondelles and some seed beads. The ends of the longer pieces have spiral ends. I was tickled pink to find some K&Co. paper that picked up the colors of the charm.

 Not very much on my workdesk. I had a bead swap (which I can't reveal yet), but I was playing around and made these. Love freshwater pearls.

I haven't posted much lately because I've been ... well would you believe walking (and dancing) and trying not to dance while I'm walking (okay I did break out po-going the other day much to my daughter's mortification and my surprise) lol. I swear I've dropped 2 shirt sizes in the last month, tee-shirts have become tunics. Unexpected music found me and it's all I can do to sit still. Here are some examples  :D.
