Maile Belles Inspiration Challenge

The 2nd Day Challenge of the Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary Celebration is to create a card inspired by Maile Belles. The card I was inspired by can be found here.

The flower and leaves are from the  Rosie Posie set. The scalloped layer is partially from the 1 3/4" Limitless Layers Circle Die Collection. The card base is Hibiscus Burst, everything else is Stamper's Select White. The leaves were put in a water spritzed puddle of Shabby Shutters Distress ink, then stamped in Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. The flower petals were stamped with Raspberry Fizz with an edge of Pure Poppy and then gone over with a water brush. The center was stamped with Summer Sunrise with an edge of Orange Zest. The sentiment is from Bold Bouquet.

And because Simon Says All Things Bright and Beautiful, it's there as well : ).

Tiny Gnome in a Tiny Dome

The gnome stamp is from Hanna Stamps and colored with markers. The grass, flower and mushrooms are from Papertrey Ink's Forest Friends. Thin wire is glued to the back so each element can stick into the cork. Each element is fussy-cut after stamped and colored.

Vintage Typewriter card

Simon Says challenge this week is "H". I found a Tim Holtz Vintage Typewriter die for $5. The first thing I did was cut a stencil and mask with it out of it's plastic packaging. It's like getting the stencil and mask for free : ).

The second thing I did was cut it again because I didn't write on it with a Sharpie and  it got lost.  This is the first one... see how clear it is? I found it after I cut the second one. It will probably be turned into an embellishment on a scrapbook page.

I used the "outside" piece to trace the outter shape of the typewriter with a fine tip Sharpie. The mask has some cuts that are just slits, so I opened those up with a craft knife and a pair of scissors. Then I traced all the openings using the mask. It reminds me of free hand drawings I did in the 70s.

One very nice bonus about the size is that they all fit into a sandwich bag.  Next I'm going to cut some fun foam so I can make a stamp : ).

I'm finally done with all the Christmas knitting and for now some of the other things have been settled. It felt great to be able to do some papercrafting.

I couldn't find the picture I wanted so I'll be working with this one (Witch's Fingers grapes die cut with a Papertrey Ink strip stitch die and the Tim Holtz Alphanumeric dies).  To the left is a pot of Sticky Embossing Powder (Tim Holtz calls it Powdered Glue) I'm still concocting experiments on that one.

This Thursday is the kick off of Papertrey Ink's 8th Anniversary celebration all the pertinents will be on Nicole's blog. It's always a good ime : ). In preparation I've been organizing. You'll notice that all the inkpads have been labelled. I daubed color on some labels I found at the dollar store and used a 5/8" circle punch.

T Stands for Teacup (Giant) and Typewriter and a little bit of a Tidy Up.

After I spilled a bowl of ramen in my lap I bought a giant teacup for soup and ramen. The handle makes a world of difference : D.  I found Shin ramen at Walmart of all places, It's my favorite, but I only put in 1/4 - 1/3 of the flavor packet because Korean food is SPICEy. The video below is where I learned different things to put in ramen.

Really I was all judgy about the last ingredient. But I had to admit it's the magical component to a filling meal : ).

I found a Tim Holtz Vintage Typewriter die for $5 and used the packaging to make a stencil and a mask. I'm a bit of a typewriter freak, at one point I had 17. I believe I'm down to 7 now.

The Distress Paints and Stains are all readily identifiable thanks to a 5/8" circle punch and some labels I picked up at the dollar store. Just dab, (let dry) punch and adhere. The inkpads are ALL done too : D.

Make It Monday #200: Layering Cover Plate Die Cuts

This week's Make It Monday is all about layering cover plate die cuts. I used the Modern Cross Quilt cover plate cut once with PTI packing tissue, cut again with Autumn Rose cardstock and both are layered over a gold foil mat. The sentiment is from Quilter's Sampler Sentiments stamped on a strip of organza ribbon.

Reverse Stamping: Like Reverse Painting Only with Stamps

I love reverse glass painting, and thought I would give it a go with stamps. "Reverse" refers to applying the details to the back of the glass first. But with stamping the image is reversed so it would be difficult to do with regular stamping methods. I used Glossy Accents to adhere the patterned paper to the back and applied rub on letters to the front of the glass.

The detail was stamped on with Stazon Jet Black ink. The other colors are stamped with acrylic craft paint (in bottles).

 I brushed the paint on the stamp.

Then to even out the "squishy" texture of the paint on the glass, I brushed it out on the glass.

Because it's a new to me technique, I'm entering it in Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday And because Simon Says Anything Goes : ).
